Telling people what to wear…

I recently spoke with a Muslim girl who prefers to wear a headscarf. We were talking about stuff, and i asked her whether she has ever been asked if she could not wear it within office premises (at interviews). And she said yes… and a lot of girls are asked that question.

The other day, i saw it in a paper where the LK contingent to some function being requested to wear the MR Stakaya… We also have schools telling woman that they would not be allowed in, if not ‘properly’ attired (to be read – dressed in saree, but covering the neval)… we also have both women and men to be ‘properly’ attired to visit the Dalada maligawa (in Kandy) and Christian priests talking about attire at mass….

Who the hell appointed these moral police? why cannot people be allowed to wear what they want to wear?
At work, as long as the work is done, does the head scarf matter? and at religion occations shouldn’t the veil be on the peoples eyes and mind, rather than be white washed? and MR – please, stop being childish -at least on attire….

btw, when it comes to office attire i believe women as a whole have a lot more freedom than men…. open shoes, short skirts, pants, sleeveless tops, sarees etc  they can basicaly wear anything… but men….

I just think it’s a sign of respect to not wear a skanky miniskirt with fishnets when going into a place of worship. It’s inappropriate, and highly so.

However, the moral police tend to take it too far most of the time, so the happy middle is never reached and it’s always the extreme. Banning miniskirts with fishnets – OK. Banning sleeveless tops – stretching the limit a tad bit.

True. Dumb F*ks at APIIT proscribes the students to wear ‘professional’ clothing.

imo re places of worship, i still think if someone is interested in learning about a religion, at least looking at it (which may interest them later…) they should be allowed to enter. Preferable they would not wear fishnets… but i would prefer to allow such a person to enter, rather than shut them out…..

Did not the Buddha speak to a naked woman? (who lost her entire family?) when she gained sanity, she covered her self….
