10 Things that make me happy..
I have been tagged by Angel. Lets see… in no particular order
1) Hanging around with my closest friends
2) Food – any type, I will always try something at least once
3) Alco – After a bad mishap, I will limit it to one glass
4) Weddings – where almost all women look beautiful!
5) Reading blogs
6) Reading books / magazines (almost anything)
7) Going for the occasional walk / jog
8) Listening to music – Any kind
9) Learning new things – mentally challenging that is
10) Just thinking – about stuff, life…
All my favourites have either been already tagged or stopped posting :(
R&B: One of our manager buys a bottle
Hm, some people get higher salaries, but they don’t spend it on others; but others do!
Went to R&B sometime back, four guys and a few girls. Ordered a bottle of Vodka and a few chases. One of our managers paid with his credit card – and the rest of us where going to pay him back at office. When we asked, he says “oh, don’t worry about that”. Wow….
Loved R&B. First time I’ve been there. I think what I liked most was the people that I went out with. Two of the girls are leaving to Australia soon. Sad. I suppose that is part of life.
The abuse of “dear”
I hate it when I call a customer / supplier / restaurant and the person at the other end calls me “dear”. Some of them do not even know me! How about using a) my first name b) Mr followed by my surname c) sir? Why Dear?
Dear should be used to mean affection, and it is not some commodity.
I am fine with “dear” on emails addressed to me, though not too thrilled unless it is from a personal that I personally know. I use dear only to address those who are dear to me – and that does include a few customers and suppliers: hm, a couple of females that is.
Albert Hofmann – synthesised LSD.
He is no more: died at a young age of 102 (The Economist reports his death).
I have never tried LSD, and I doubt I ever will: a) not sure how pure it will be, given that its illegal (so there is no one to check the quality) and b) probably will cost a packet in Sri Lanka.
For those who check out the Economist article, please go through the comments section found at the bottom of the article. Makes interesting reading. One comment says something like “drink plenty of water, if you take LSD and don’t mix with alcohol”. Yes, you should not mix with alcohol, but you should also not go overboard on drinking water. Too much water (fast intake) will disrupt the chemical balance in you body and you might shut down.
Hot butter cuttle fish?
How many times have you gone for Chinese and ordered (you or someone else in the group) hot butter cuttlefish? As a percentage of visits that is. Mine stands around 90%.
Burma – The generals and politicians killing people
A cyclone hits Burma (Myanmar). People need help. The murderous self appointed, incompetent, Generals cannot handle the situation. They don’t ask for help, they drag their feet. Monks start to take steps to clean up and help the people.
Some countries offer to help – but not without strings.
The first few hours are critical. The Generals and the lawmakers in other countries seem to not have given first preference to the suffering masses, but to other thoughts. The Generals: to remain in power. The politicians of some countries: how can we use this situation to spread our version of “democracy”.
What if?
A friend asked me “what one thing would you change, if you could go back in time?”. I said “nothing”. a) I cannot go back in time and b) I stand by all the decisions I made, for I made them with available info at that moment (except getting drunk at one office party)
Anyhow, I suppose it is interesting to think how life would have turned out if things worked differently. The wonder in it, is that you can wonder: you would never actually know what it might have been.
What if Al Gore became the US president instead of War Criminal Bush?
What if Ranil W became the LK president instead of Mahinda R? Perhaps interesting scenarios to think about, but also perhaps a waste of time.
“Child,” said Aslan, “did I not explain to you once before that no one is ever told what would have happened?”
