The Dark Knight – was good
A pretty good story line. The movie was quite long, but I enjoyed myself. Wish the AC was on from the start though. Cost cutting (Liberty)?
Aba
Watched it a few days ago. Tiny story line – stretched to the limit. However I enjoyed it. To put it in to perspective, more than Hancock, but definitely not even close to Kungfu Panda.
Two points:
a) Aba has reignited talk about Sinhalese decedents of a rogue king from India vs the original Sri Lankans
b) A lot of people seem to speak more about the fact that a pretty lass didn’t have hair on her legs, but had it under her arms…
August Rush
A brilliant movie. Simple story line, beautiful, brilliant acting. The key voices (when they spoke) too was just melodic. Boy, I still get goose bumps when I think about the movie.
A must see… You can watch the Trailer here.
Secondhand imagination
The beauty of a book is that one can choose the characters. People turn good books in to movies, and one of them is Narnia.
Most of those that come after us will never be able to build the world according to his / her own imagination. It has already been built by someone else. Gutterflower shares her thoughts on Prince Caspian.. imo, the movie was okay (not a disaster), but the book is way much better.
Kung Fu Panda
Looks like I wasn’t the only one to have loved it! Of course LD seemed to have had more fun because of the free additional special effects ;)
To add to what she already said, my friend said “everybody seemed to truly love the show. They really laughed…”
A must see. I booked the tickets online, using eTickets.
Crash – movie
Watched Crash the other day. It was a pretty good movie – didn’t know where it was going as there were a lot of plots built in to one movie. And the twists and turns were… well, engaging.
There was one scene, which got me thinking quite a bit: perhaps because there is at least a small possibility that I might unfortunately face a similar situation. In that scene, a police officer molests a women in front of her husband.
You can watch that particular scene by clicking here. That particular incident tears the couple apart…
I don’t know about you, but if I were with a female friend, and a group of guys come and does something like that, there won’t me much I can do. And that bloody scares me…I would be helpless to a large extent. The only thing that I can think of, is to plan ahead and avoid such situations and places where things can go wrong.
The Chronicles of Narnia
At LKR 2,000 or so this is a pretty pricey book – but worth it, as it includes all seven books. I doubt that this is a adult book – I suppose it is rather a childrens’ book. However, i finished reading the first two and love the book. i like the simple way that its is written and the way the story flows; and the story itself.
Will i ever buy and give this wonderful collection to say a person below the age of 15? No: there are references such as “son of Adam” etc. The first book also carries with it a bit of creationism. As a person who claims to have no faith as such, i have no issues in my reading of these and enjoying it very much, but i do not think i will give this to a younger child – regardless of what the child’s religion is. However, adults, can enjoy and appreciate the book.
The Giniralla Conspiracy
Gini (fire) Ralla (wave) is truly an amazing story, and it will keep you sitting on you bum until you finish reading it. Its supposed to based on some facts; and yes, some facts but the story sounds fictitious (brilliant!) . The book has the right degree of romance, suspense and fact.
I find it much easier to relate to this book, and come up with suitable depictions of characters in my head as i am a product of a local university. It was fun.
The book also brings forth emotions ranging from jealousy, love and how people can leech on other peoples insecurity and use them for their advantage.
Hotel Rwanda
“… they are cockroaches…”
Let not, such crimes be repeated ever again. Let not, the UN and the international community sit and watch by, as such genocide, take place. And may there be more people who will have courage, and emotional capacity to stand up to those who commit crimes against humanity.
Hotel Rwanda is a movie to be watched.
As technology develops, hopefully it will get more difficult for such criminal activity to carry on; as camera phones become cheaper and goes in to the hands of ordinary people, they will be able to get these atrocities across. A picture, after all, tells a lot very quickly – and there is no lying: abu grab.
